When was the last time you gave blood?

Giving blood is a process that takes very little time and can be scheduled for your convenience. With a number of locations in the RTP area, you should be able to donate without going very far out of your way. As a regular donor, I am on an e-list from the American Red Cross. The need for blood and platelets is very strong and your donation is much appreciated. The e-newsletter this month was also full of rewards and opportunities to win prizes because it is National Blood Donor Month. Please review the information sent from Jeff Gauzza
Blood Center Coordinator for the Durham Service Area see what you can do to help out.

5 Bucks is Change

Dear Loyal Blood Donor,

January is National Blood Donor Month.

While the need for blood is constant, during winter, fewer people venture out into the cold to donate.

With the recent unusual amount of inclement weather, the Carolinas Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross has not been able to collect more than 1,500 units of blood due to drive cancellations and shortened hours. There are lives that are counting on donations. One of them could be a friend or relative. With that thought in mind, make a resolution to donate as many times as you can in 2011.

Blood can be donated EVERY 56 days.

If you’ve recently donated and are not eligible, we ask that you consider sharing this information with a friend or family member who might be eligible. Thank you for your donation and we hope you will continue to help save lives in the future.

We look forward to seeing you again when you are eligible.

To donate blood, call 1-800-RED CROSS (733-2767).

Please join us at the North Raleigh Blood Center in November 2010 for the following wonderful give-aways and drawings:

Do More, Give Together: Commit to a Donor Day!

Your civic or social group, team or business can help save more lives by donating together and showing your heart to the community. A Donor Day, which can span a day, a few days or even a week, is a fun and rewarding time at your local American Red Cross blood donation center. Contact Jeff Gauzza at 919-847-6835 for more information on how to make it a memorable event with special prizes and food for your group.

Please bring a friend, co-worker, neighbor, family member or other associate to donate with you. Also, feel free to pass this information and need along to others who might be interested in helping and entering to win a great prize! They can come in at a time that is convenient for them. Please make a difference for someone. Call 1-800-RED CROSS to schedule an appointment.

You, the donor, deserve all of the thanks in the world. Whether you give every 56 days, 112 days, or once in a while, you are helping to save lives whenever you come in to donate. Thank you for being a Hero!
